NRCC
The National River Conservation Commission was established in 2014 under the National River Conservation Commission Act 2013 to protect and manage Bangladesh's extensive river network from encroachment, pollution, and misuse. NRCC has the authority to demarcate river boundaries, recommend penalties for encroachment, and advise the government on river management policy. Hydrologists and environmental scientists at NRCC conduct field surveys, fluvial geomorphology assessments, and use GIS tools to map and monitor the legal boundaries of rivers across Bangladesh.
