LGED
The Local Government Engineering Department is one of Bangladesh's largest government engineering agencies, responsible for planning and constructing rural and urban infrastructure including roads, bridges, markets, and drainage systems across all 64 districts. LGED maintains a strong GIS division for infrastructure mapping, zoning, and project monitoring. Environmental officers at LGED conduct environmental impact screenings for infrastructure projects, while geotechnical engineers carry out soil investigations for foundation design. The department is a major employer of geo-professionals in field-based civil and environmental engineering roles.
