DDM
The Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief was established in 2012 following the Disaster Management Act and coordinates Bangladesh's national disaster risk reduction framework. DDM works with SPARRSO, BMD, and BWDB to integrate geospatial analysis, satellite data, and climate models for multi-hazard risk mapping across the country. GIS and remote sensing specialists at DDM develop risk maps, vulnerability assessments, and early warning systems for floods, cyclones, and riverbank erosion — crucial capabilities for one of the world's most disaster-exposed nations.
