The Bangladesh Navy Hydrographic and Oceanographic Centre is the national authority for nautical charting and hydrographic surveys of Bangladesh's coastal waters, rivers, and the Bay of Bengal, with hydrographic training roots from 1983. BNHOC produces and maintains nautical charts essential for navigation safety in Chattogram and Mongla ports, and conducts tidal, current, and bathymetric surveys in coastal and offshore areas. It represents Bangladesh at the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and cooperates with neighbouring countries on maritime boundary delineation. Hydrographers, nautical cartographers, and oceanographers serve in both civil and naval capacities here.
